Social Media and LeadingAge

Welcome to the social media section of LeadingAge.org. Below you will find a list of the social media platforms currently used by LeadingAge. If your organization is interested in using social media tools, we encourage you to take a look at our LeadingAge Social Media Policy. It may be a good template for your organization’s policy.

Facebook

Facebook Facebook is designed to give people the power to make the world more open and connected. Users can share photos and information, connect with friends and colleagues, post status updates, and join groups that reflect their interests or areas of expertise. Foursquare

FourSquare Foursquare is a mobile application that allows friends and colleagues to connect by sharing locations with one another. It is a friend-finder, a social city guide and a game that challenges users to experience new things, and rewards them for doing so. Foursquare lets users “check in” to a place when they are there, tell friends where they are and track the history of where they’ve been and who they’ve been there with. Twitter

TwitterTwitter is a “micro-blogging” service that allows users to send and receive 140-character messages known as tweets. These posts are displayed on a users profile page as well as delivered to the user’s friends or followers. Tweeting offers a great opportunity to share news and information about your organization and the field of aging services. You can connect with Twitter online, via external applications, or on most all of the major smart phones. Twitter is also a powerful search engine. YouTube

YouTube YouTube, which is owned by Google, is a website that allows users to upload and share videos. It is a great resource for individuals and organizations that don’t have the bandwidth to store and stream videos on their own sites. Many LeadingAge members already use YouTube to share videos about their organizations with the world. Why not join them? Visit LeadingAge’s YouTube Channel.

LinkedIn

LinkedInLinkedIn is a social networking site that was created to connect current and past business colleagues. The site touts the fact that executives from all Fortune 500 companies are members. LinkedIn also allows companies and individuals to connect with new employment or business opportunities. Using LinkedIn is a great way to connect with your fellow members and other experts in our field. Join LeadingAge’s LinkedIn Group.

Delicious

Delicious Delicious, owned by Yahoo!, allows users to store and share bookmarks of their favorite Web pages. Users can tag their bookmarks with a variety of terms and then display their links on a Web site or blog. LeadingAge uses Delicious.

Google+

Google’s latest take on social networking tool, Google+ to share thoughts, links, photos, and even connect with other users via video chat. Like Facebook, Google+ allows companies and organizations create profiles.
