Mayor Gray Calls for $100 Million for Affordable Housing in State of the District Address

Mayor Gray gave his annual State of the District address at the historic 6th Street synagogue in February. The speech is a preview of the priorities and plans the administration will pursue in the new
year. He expressed his commitment to provide $100 million for affordable housing in an effort to reach 10,000 new units in the next year. Mayor Gray noted the recovery in the city, including the declining unemployment rate, the booming commercial and residential development and the increase in revenue. The Mayor warned that the reduction in federal funding due to sequester or other
