Death with Dignity Act of 2015

On November 1st, the DC Council conducted its first vote on the Death with Dignity Act of 2015. After technical changes suggested both the by Executive and the insurance industry were incorporated in the legislation the bill passed its first of two required votes by an 11 to 2 count.

Section 11 of the Act indicates that a health care provider is not required to participate or take any action in support of another’s choice to participate. In addition, it indicates that a Health Care Provider can prohibit employees, independent contractors, or others, from participating under law on its premises.
