Email from Sharon Mebane, DC Health, regarding Assisted Living Regulations

September 4, 2018 LeadingAge DC Executive Director

Dear Valued Stakeholders,

Please accept this email as an update on the status of the Assisted Living Residence (ALR) regulations. The rulemaking has been promulgated on an emergency and proposed basis and will be available to view in the August 24, 2018 issue of the D.C. Register under “Proposed Rulemaking.” The issue will be available through the following web-link on August 24th: https://www.dcregs.dc.gov/Common/DCR/Issues/IssueCategoryList.aspx?CategoryID=28&IssueID=724. You will have the option to submit your comments in writing to the Department of Health’s physical address, or online through the DCRegs.DC.gov website. Because DC Health must review each comment it receives, much time can be saved if individuals and organizations that wish to comment work in unison to submit a single document in order to reduce the potential for duplicative comments

Please be reminded that the regulations established by this rulemaking are supplemental to the provisions already enacted by the Assisted Living Residence Regulatory Act of 2000.

DC Health will convene an informational session for all ALR providers and other interested stakeholders on Wednesday, September 19th at 9AM. The purpose of this session will be to discuss compliance expectations. A detailed agenda will be forthcoming. To facilitate the best use of our time together during this session, please submit questions related to the implementation of the regulations to caitlin.houck@dc.gov by close of business on Monday, September 17th.

We look forward to continuing our work together and appreciate your ongoing commitment in support of this rulemaking process.

Thank you,

Sharon
